Description:
There are dozens of web-to-print systems on the market. How can you choose the one that fits your needs best? This tool will make your decision-making process a lot easier. It is primarily based on two factors: your strategy for using web-to-print technology, and the features of the available systems.
Your business strategy for using web-to-print might be:
- As a way to obtain new customers from the web
- As a tool to make it easy for customers to submit jobs
- As a way to create closer ties with existing customers
- As a tool for VDP job submission
- As part of a broader fulfillment service
Each strategy needs a somewhat different set of features.
To understand which systems have which features, PODi conducted a survey of 14 major web-to-print vendors. We focused on the systems that support submission of VDP jobs (a good indication that they are suitable for digital printers). We collected data on almost 100 characteristics of the systems.
This tool, based on an Excel spreadsheet, leads you through the system selection process. Depending on your business strategy, it identifies the survey questions that are most important for you, and it lists the answers provided by the vendors. You can specify the weight to be given to each question, and you can fill in a “grade” that says how well each vendor satisfies your requirements for that specific feature. The spreadsheet calculates overall scores for all the vendors, and the ones with the highest scores are the ones you should consider first.
